  • What are stories?  We think of them as multi-dimensional, non-reductionist, catalysts for transformation. And way more interesting, engaging and effective than some step-by-step, formulaic approach to success.
  • Call them schemas, scripts, cognitive maps, mental models, metaphors, or narratives — stories are how we explain how things work, how we make decisions, how we justify our decisions, how we persuade others, how we understand our place in the world, create our identities, and define and teach social values.
  • Stories are about collaboration and connection. They engage us through our emotions as well as our intellect, furthering self- awareness and sparking our imaginations to a broad range of change possibilities.

The Storymatcher is an online tool designed to help people, let’s call them Seekers, who are eager to achieve better outcomes for themselves, their organizations, their communities, even the planet.

In simple terms, the process is about sharing highly relevant stories with Seekers that illustrate how others, faced with a similar circumstance, were able to improve their understanding, gain greater insight, and achieve their desired success.

How it Works

It all begins with Story Workshops. People from varied backgrounds, across a broad spectrum of industries are invited to share their individual stories of success, be that of personal growth, job success, novel mentoring ideas, or wide-ranging organizational accomplishment.

These stories of success are collected and held, metaphorically, in a “treasure box”.
Each story is analyzed and scored by Fraendi counselors — from a psychological developmental perspective using various cutting-edge methodologies developed by renown researchers Otto Laske and Robert Keegan — and reveal identifiable patterns and attributes – each of which can yield multiple analysis possibilities.

    Now for the fun. A Seeker, eager to find a way to improve themselves, or their job, or their team or organization, comes to Storymatcher with a work related question or with a desired outcome in mind. If the desired outcome is to have a better job, then Storymatcher might find stories from individuals who achieved that outcome detailing the training, the mentors, the learning that went into creating the pathway to success. If the desired outcome is how to improve one’s organisation by introducing sustainability practices, then stories along those line will show up.

    The more detailed the question, the more varied the results, and the more detailed the response. When people choose more stories, it becomes even more precise in the multi-dimensionality of what they want to experience. The story matcher works in a plurality of systems of analysis and chooses the one that is best for the context.
