What you’ll Learn
Kegan & Laske’s Adult Development Model
You will learn about Robert Kegan’s and Otto Laske’s Harvard-researched model on the lifelong development of the adult as an Evolving Self.
This model will be at the heart of giving feedback about the client’s current inner position in their life, their capabilities and strengths as much as what is difficult or even out of reach for the person.
Where you are as an Evolving Self using your own Developmental Profile
We are currently in a development of a dedicated coaching service based on a self-assessment of inner wisdom. All participants become BETA testers for StoryMatcher™ Inner Navigation content with the opportunity to take the test themselves before the training starts. During the training you will learn how to read and understand your own developmental profile feedback report.

Session 1 – The Evolving Self and giving feedback about it
- The transition from The instrumentalist to the socialised mind (S2-S3)
- Practising feedback – giving and receiving
Session 2 – The transition from the socialised to the self-authoring mind (S3-S4)
- Practising feedback – giving and receiving
Session 3 – The transition from the self-authoring to the self aware and deconstructing mind (S4-S5)
- Practising feedback – giving and receiving
Session 4 – Developmental coaching plans
- How to coach and model towards S3
- How to coach and model towards S4
- How to coach and model towards S5
Expected Outcomes
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- Understand where you are yourself in the Evolving Self
- Understand a written StoryMatcher™ – Inner Navigation feedback report in depth
- Understand the fundamentals of Robert Kegan’s “Evolving Self” model
- Understand the client’s capacity for receiving feedback
- Understand how to give developmental feedback to your clients using StoryMatcher™ reports
- Know the dos and don’ts of giving feedback
- Practice giving and receiving feedback
How it works
The course consists of four online-sessions of 2,5 hours each. The course has been designed as a part-time program for busy coaches. At the online sessions you’ll participate in discussions and have your questions answered. You will need to spend a maximum of 6 to 8 hours total per week on the readings and course work.

Training material
Next to a digital collaborative whiteboard where all the training material will be shared you will receive the book “Measuring Hidden Dimensions: The Art and Science of Fully Engaging Adults” by Otto E. Laske. After having signed in we will ask you if you wish to receive the English or the German version.
About Your Instructors
Rainer von Leoprechting is co-founder of Fraendi. In his career he oversaw the leadership coaching programme at the European Commission, and started the in-house consulting group there. He has been working with adult development since the early 2000s and translated Otto Laske’s book on developmental coaching and consulting. He has been developing the StoryMatcher™ tool from the start and built a team of highly skilled coaches, interviewers and analysts who are working with Robert Kegan’s and Otto Laske’s measurements they developed at Harvard.
Daniela Volkert is an Associate Partner of Fraendi. She is deep into Fraendi’s developmental assessment practice, loving the depth of the theory and profound possibilities lying in it. Over the last 5 years she created several leadership profiles for clients of Fraendi and she is part of the StoryMatcher™ product development team. She holds a degree in communications psychology and holistic systemic business coaching. Over the last ten years she worked in organisational communications and coordinated large strategic visualisation projects for well-known clients all over the world. She’s a certified NIA (Dance Fitness for Mind, Body & Soul) teacher, dances with people to let them shine and enables people to move (more). She is also an antenna for coherence.

Q: How long is the course?
A: The course runs over a month in either February, May, September or November 2025. However, if you are unable to take a Session in February, then it is possible to take this Session in May instead. Please let us know if you need this option or if the dates don’t fit. Let us know by email to hello@fraendi.org.

A: The course includes 4 X 2,5 hour online Sessions and various handouts to review the course learnings, make course notes and to make annotations for the feedback reports.
